Roland Garcia - Awards & Articles |
Roland has received numerous awards and honors for his service to the community and to the profession. He received the President’s Award from the HBA and the TYLA for his service to those organizations. He received the State Bar’s Presidential Citation "for his unselfish dedication and leadership during the public hearings held across the State of Texas on the issue of pro bono." He was recognized by the Houston Independent School District for "exceptional service to the young people of this City." He received the Five Outstanding Young Houstonians Award and the Baylor University Outstanding Young Alumni Award. The Houston Chronicle and Channel 8 recognized him for "making a difference to improve the quality of life in the community." As a law student, the faculty of South Texas College of Law awarded Roland the David Donnelly Memorial Award "in recognition of exemplary character, perseverance and legal ability." Roland is also a frequent speaker and writer on legal topics such as expert witnesses, discovery, and contractual indemnity, and on community service topics such as volunteerism, education, juvenile justice and opportunities for women and minorities.
